How do you stay inspired and motivated?
Honestly? I stay connected to why I started. I work with women who are in the middle of something hard—menopause, betrayal, identity shifts—and watching someone decide they're not done yet is quietly remarkable.I also lift weights, which may seem unrelated until you realize that showing up for something hard regularly, even when you don't feel like it, requires the same discipline the work demands. Movement keeps me honest.
What's something you're passionate about that most people might not know?
Most people assume I'm a "talk therapy" person, and I am, but I'm equally passionate about the physiological underpinnings of the mental health presentations we see every day. Perimenopausal women are being diagnosed with late-onset depression and anxiety when they are actually experiencing a hormonal transition that nobody told them was coming. I presented on menopause in clinical practice earlier this year because I think this is one of the most important gaps in our training. We owe our clients better fluency here.
What's one book, podcast, or resource you'd recommend, and why?
Michael Pollan just published A World Appears: A Journey into Consciousness, and I'd recommend it to any professional who has ever sat with a client and thought, I don't fully understand what's happening in there, but I'm going to stay present anyway. He traces consciousness through scientific, philosophical, spiritual, and psychedelic perspectives — going beyond brain labs to plant neurobiologists, neuroscientists, engineering feeling into AI, and the nature of subjective experience itself. I've been pairing it with The Telepathy Tapes podcast, which asks the same questions from a completely different direction. We work with human consciousness every hour of our professional lives. Shouldn't we be as curious about it as we are credentialed around it?
